The Heartland and Midwest LTV’ers will be hosting a Combined Mini Rally! The Rally is scheduled for your arrival on the afternoon of Tuesday, August 22, with a departure by 5:00 pm Friday, August 25th.

Pomme de Terre Lake lies in the rugged, tree-covered hills of the Missouri Ozarks, a region long known as a popular Midwest vacation spot. The lake has 13 recreation areas, four marinas, and over 10,000 acres of wildlife habitat. Visitors to the lake enjoy various outdoor recreation activities, including fishing, boating, swimming, camping, picnicking, hiking, hunting, sightseeing, and relaxation. A three/four-mile bike path and other paths between camping areas may provide attractive biking opportunities.

For those who may not have attended a Mini Rally–they are generally a smaller gathering that is less structured and much more relaxed than a typical Rally. Reservations have been made at group camp 1 (G1), which has eleven sites. The G1 camping area is located at Nemo Park, which is situated in the Corp of Engineering Camp area. Suppose interest is received beyond the initial eleven spots in the group area. In that case, attendees may book their camping reservations (details are included in the reservation form) through the Corp and attend the group gatherings at G1. The Corp does allow up to 25 vehicles within the group area, so folks could drive over and park or join the group by walking/bicycle.

To reserve your spot, please fill out this reservation form. The form will explain how and where to send the registration fee to secure your spot. The registration fee of $60 includes electric and water hookups for the three-night stay. A dump station and showers are conveniently located outside the G1 camping area. G1 does have pit toilets.

Announcing the Rocky Mountain LTVers 2023 Fall Ouray Rally from Thursday, September 7, 2023, through to Monday, September 11, 2023 (four nights and five days).

Ouray, Colorado, is known as the “Switzerland of America.” Ouray is a high alpine community sitting at 7,800 feet in elevation, surrounded by rugged and steep mountainsides that lead up to jagged 12,000 to 13,000-foot-high peaks and creeks that cascade through valleys and canyons. This ‘Outdoor Recreation Capital of Colorado’ offers exactly that – hiking, jeeping, climbing and adventure parks, hot spring soaking, and more. There are also plenty of museums, ghost towns, local-made craft beverages, artisan shops, and more to visit during the stay.

Our Rally basecamp will be at Ouray Riverside Resort. Located just one mile from the heart of Ouray, you can walk or bike to everything in town (including the Ouray Hot Springs, only a half mile away!) Ouray Riverside Resort offers onsite Jeep rentals, vehicle washing, and a gas station. The resort also hosts an onsite store, laundromat, high-speed fiber optic WiFi, and a restaurant, Ouray Cafe and Steakhouse. This riverside location is right off the walking path that offers a safe journey to town or a lovely loop for the pooches.

An agenda and program will be released next summer. As a five-day and four-night rally, we’ll leave plenty of time for self-driven exploration (since there’s so much to do!)

Group activities may include:

• Nightly gatherings at the onsite fire pit in the circle campground
• Group dinner at the onsite Ouray Cafe & Steakhouse
• Ouray Perimeter Trail hike (including Cascade Falls & a visit to Box Canyon Falls)
• A daring traverse of the Ouray Via Ferrata cable climbing/adventure park
• Scenic bike ride to the town of Ridgeway (20-mile round trip and includes packed dirt roads)
• All of the usual great RV rally happening, such as RV tours and tech talks

This is a great spot to extend your stay before or after the rally. Kurt and I will be staying a total of two weeks, working remotely, and checking out on the last day of the rally. If any other endurance riders are interested in joining, I aim to attempt a bike ride up Imogene Pass the weekend before (5,500 feet of elevation gain and over 11 miles from the RV park).

Site Details:

• The following sites (32 in total) are on hold for our group (and here’s a link to the campground map): Circle sites: 6-11, 17-25; Riverside sites: 29-31, 33, 36-48. Note that the circle sites mostly have some shade, and the riverside sites largely do not.
• While guests are more than welcome to request a specific site type, they cannot guarantee a specific site number to anybody as they are all subject to change if necessary. Members of the group could request to be next to or near another group member, and they will do their best to accommodate your requests.
• The RV park (like many) does pricing adjustments each January, so the price they give you may go up slightly next year. The current estimate is $66/night for a circle site. You will not be asked for a deposit if you book prior to the end of this year but must provide a card to put on file.

Please note: because we have limited availability for this rally, you are consenting that if you have to cancel for any reason, you will work with Teresa to transfer your site to another member on our waitlist instead of simply canceling outright with the RV park.

Registration for the 2023 Fall Rally begins on March 7th! The rally will be September 7 – 10, 2023, at Fidalgo Bay, Anacortes, Washington.

A few items to note before registration opens up:

• Please do NOT call early
• Be sure you identify yourself as being with the Evergreen Leisures LTV Rally
• Give them the names of all people in your van, email address and phone number, and ideally the year and model of your van (they’ll share those with us, so that we can keep you up to date on the event).

There are only 55 sites available at Fidalgo, so it will be a first-come, first-serve situation. Please do not register unless you are certain that you can attend. The formal Rally will be from Thursday through Sunday, but some of us like to extend informally to include both Wednesday on the front end until Monday on the back end. More details will follow but our activities will include biking one of the San Juan Islands and exploring Anacortes.

The 2023 Heartland LTVers Fall Rally is open for reservations! The Rally will be held in Washburn, Wisconsin, at Memorial Park. Washburn is a small community located in the far northern area of Wisconsin on the shore of Lake Superior’s Chequamegon Bay. This is a very beautiful area of Wisconsin, and the community has a quaint downtown area with several restaurants, a coffee shop, and various arts and crafts stores. Additional attractions within a 15-mile radius of Washburn include restaurants and bicycling opportunities. We are exploring options, including a group tour of the Apostle Islands by boat/cruise. There are also options to rent a kayak or ride the ferry to Madeline Island, where you might choose to spend an afternoon walking/hiking or cycling the island. The Washburn area also has several local orchards and a winery, and if you enjoy learning about the local culture and history, there is a small museum for your enjoyment.

The Rally is scheduled for your arrival on the afternoon of Monday, September 18, and a departure mid-day Thursday, September 21, for a total of three nights. The City of Washburn has been very generous with us in accommodating our LTV Club. The city typically operates on a first-come, first-served basis, but they have agreed to allow our group to take early reservations and have offered a 25% discount on our camping fees!  The regular price for a site is advertised at $35/night with electricity.  The Heartland LTV Group rate with a discount is $26.25/night or $78.75 for the three nights of our Rally. Memorial Park has a pavilion, flush toilets, and pay showers.  Water is located throughout several areas of the camp, with a dump station on site. There are 30 sites available for this Rally, so check your calendars and make your reservation if you’re interested in attending! Registration will remain open until all spots are reserved or until April 30, 2023, whichever occurs first.

The Midwest LTVers Fall Rally is four nights (September 24 – 28) at the Horse Thief Campground and RV Resort in Hill City, South Dakota.

There will be a $10 rally fee per coach collected at check-in. Also, a 10% discount will be offered on your site fee if you have a Good Sam membership card. You can contact the campground with your Good Sam information.

The Buffalo Roundup at Custer State Park is September 28 – 30, right after the rally. If you want to stay longer and attend the Buffalo Roundup, you can extend your reservation at the campsite at the time of booking.

To make your reservation, please call the Campground Manager at 605-574-2668 and mention that you are part of the Midwest LTVers Club and the Leader’s name is Kelly Westphal. They will hold our block of sites until December 15, 2022.

There is a picnic pavilion that we will be using, and it is located behind the barn building. The sites nearest the picnic shelter are sites 5 – 33, which are left of the picnic pavilion, and the sites right of the picnic pavilion are 111, 112, 114, 115, 120, 123, 124, and 125.
